'Shiva in Contemplation' Art Print

This painting is a depiction of the Hindu god Shiva, often referred to as 'The Destroyer', sitting in anguished contemplation. I was inspired by Michelangel's painting of the prophet Jeremiah at the Sistine Chapel and wanted to show Lord Shiva in a similar iconic light. It shows Shiva reflecting on the pain & suffering on Earth without his trusted trident by his side to destroy evil & injustices. I used a variety of paint colours on canvas including reds & greens for Shiva's face and body to indicate blood, veins & other human characteristics - I wanted him to be seen resembling as a man in deep thought!
