Equality and Diversity Exhibition

Previously @The Brick Lane Gallery
Tuesday 25th September – Sunday 7th October 2018

In this particular photographic series, Mala Vadgama explores mental health topics within the BAME (Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority) community of women. She aims to tell individual narratives of women who have suffered from various struggles such as eating disorders, loss and depression. She juxtaposes them against images of other women from other cultures, demonstrating the often invisible and misunderstood nature of mental health struggles everywhere and the cultural judgements made about mental health. Mala brings an authentic and insightful perspective to these narratives due to her own battles with anxiety, depression and loss. This exhibit is part of a ongoing collection which will be exhibited in its entirety in the future.

10% of all profits from Mala’s exhibition at the gallery will be given to the charity MIND.

The series of images will continue to be exhibited thanks to the charity Centric Community Projects in their exhibitions around England in 2018 and 2019 to promote more awareness of mental health issues and equality alongside the Equality Council UK.

Please get in touch if you would like to be a part of this exhibition.
